BACP® from BBA Ecotech: the solution for turning organic waste into compost

Modern society, previously chained to the traditional concept of 'take, produce, use, throw', is moving towards a circular economy model that opens the door to eco-sustainability and promises new economic, environmental and health possibilities. The European Commission has already been working towards this goal for years, which, according to the new action plan, is to be achieved by 2050.

In this framework, composting plays an essential role, as it enables waste to be transformed into reusable resources, reducing consumption, waste and environmental impact.

Compost is obtained from the transformation and stabilisation of the organic fraction of community and industrial waste; it is a controlled and regulated aerobic process (legislative decree no. 75/2010) that favours the natural decomposition, mediated by microorganisms, of organic matter.

The end product is a fertiliser rich in organic substances with a high degree of evolution and nutrients (humus) that, together with active microbial flora, improve the chemical and physical characteristics of the soil, thus favouring the agro-livestock sector

According to the Urban Waste Report 2021, 2.2 million tonnes of compost were produced in Italy, thanks to the presence of 294 composting plants and 65 anaerobic digestion and composting plants; these promising figures are destined to rise, thanks to the contribution of companies such as BBA ECOTECH and individual producers and consumers who, by acting consciously, can make a difference

The microbial life-cycle as a reliable and 'green' resource

BBA ECOTECH, aware of the impact of composting on the environment, has formulated BACP, a ready-to-use liquid bio-activator containing dormant spores of strains belonging to the genus Bacillus. During the dormant phase, these micro-organisms are able to survive even under conditions of severe environmental stress (high temperatures, UV and gamma radiation).

Subsequently, they can emerge from their dormant state and become biologically active. In this phase, they produce substrate-specific enzymes, capable of hydrolysing and digesting organic matter, transforming it into metabolites useful for their livelihood, water and CO2; furthermore, the action of these bacteria is effective and long-lasting until the available supply is used up.

Finally, the reduction of available nutrients by the bacterial strains of BACP creates a kind of 'food antagonism' that results not only in the reduction of colonies of pathogenic bacteria, but also in the removal of food for insect larvae.

Several tests and controls, including the evaluation of phytotoxic tests, prove its efficacy and safety; BACP has been produced in accordance with European Directive 2000/54/EC and falls under:

  • classification in Risk Group 1;
  • risk Assessment specific activities with biological agents of risk Group 1;
  • protection level concept 1.

This means that there are no labelling requirements according to EC Regulation 1272/2008 of 16/12/2008; furthermore, in EEC, North and South America, the product is not subject to transport restrictions or the inclusion of hazard pictograms. BACP is not a hazardous product and the microorganisms are NOT GMOs, on the contrary, it is safe for humans, animals and the environment

BACP: the bioactivator for easy and effective composting

BACP or Biologic Active Compost Paper represents BBA ECOTECH's contribution to the composting process of organic waste from both the community and industry.

It is an easy-to-apply product, to be sprayed on the inner surface of paper bio-bags (also biodegradable) or on highly absorbent sheets (biocatchers); the latter, once placed in the wet waste container, are capable of promoting the degradation of organic matter and also of absorbing malodorous molecules that cause bad odours.

Awareness as an engine, sustainability as a destination: the journey to an 'eco-friendly' world

Every citizen, driven by a growing environmental awareness, is looking for ways to reduce waste of time, resources and money; this is why BACP becomes the ideal solution: it is not only biodegradable, environmentally friendly and green, it is also completely natural and safe for the entire ecosystem.

Thanks to its prolonged effectiveness, it will satisfy every consumer and facilitate composting, well adapted to the needs of the community and industry.

BBA ECOTECH, with its products, has for years promoted bio-technological advancement dedicated to the environment; guaranteeing quality, integrity and competence, it puts the customer first, offering him the opportunity to make a difference starting with small daily gestures.

BBA acts for a circular reality in which the consumer himself becomes the producer, actively contributing to a greener world
